Counseling (Middle School)
Manhasset Middle School
School Counseling Department
The Manhasset School Counseling program is designed to meet the needs of all students at each stage of their academic, social/emotional, and career development. In middle school, our program focuses on the transition from elementary to middle school, a time that is universally regarded as a period of rapid growth, and from middle school to high school. In addition to the physical changes middle school students’ experience, they are also challenged academically, in that their coursework will be more rigorous and they will be expected to take on greater responsibility for their work. During the middle school years, many students strive for greater independence from their parents while, at the same time, they don’t want to stand out from the crowd. Socially and emotionally, the middle school years present numerous challenges to students as they begin the process of identifying their own beliefs and values, managing their emotions, developing decision-making skills, and much more. Our program is designed to address these, as well as other issues.
